Some More of Roger Puta's UP Freight Trains -- Elevation
Author: MartyBernard

With these  five shots Roger is showing us the effectiveness of elevation, i.e., shooting from higher that the train.  Try to picture each of these taken at the same level as the train and you'll see what I mean.

1. UP SD40-2s 3409 and 3542 with a WP unit emerging Tunnel 3, Altamont, CA on May 6, 1987.

2. and 3.  UP SD40-2 3716 and C30-7 2400 in Feather River Canyon at Sloat, CA on July 1, 1988.

4. and 5. Union Pacific trains meet on Keddie Wye in the Feather River Canyon of California in March 1983.  For some background on the Keddie Wye see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keddie_Wye

Enjoy Roger's photos,
Marty Bernard

Those trees at Keddie are a lot higher now.

Awesome shots!  Great vantage points and lighting!  Roger knew what he was doing!

Great shots, love the ones at the east switch at Sloat.  Know that area very well.  It's the local swimming hole in the river, and I've been going up there and camped since 1976!
