Switcher Sunday - CR&I 8459
Author: refarkas

Chicago River and Indiana 8459 (EMD SW1) sits at NYC/PC Collinwood Yard in Cleveland, Ohio in the late 1960's or early 1970's. I have no idea why she was there except possibly for repairs.

Odd, it has roller bearings. Seems unusual for that SW1 that long ago.

One of my favorite railroads! In 1962 they rostered 20 locomotives and served over 400 industries!!

My thought too...she's also missing an air reservoir on the firemans side but looks like there is one on the front deck...maybe a sideswipe victim  or the conversion to roller bearings brought her here?

I agree with sideswipe damage. Look at the cab, there is a noticeable wrinkle on the bottom right and looks like the front is dented in also.
