Is the M&B still operating? That was a surprise photo to me. I've been to Cape Charles VA and have seen Eastern Shore collection of "stuff" at their facility.

Author: ctillnc There's a YouTube video from a few years ago showing a 103-car M&B train departing Montgomery. Acquisition by G&W meant connecting traffic for G&W's ex-SLSF Pensacola line. In addition there is the massive ex-GE Lexan plant on the ex-WofA between Montgomery and Selma served by the M&B and some smaller industrial customers as well. The future of the M&B seems assured, even though its days as a bridge route between KCS and CSX are over.

As Uncle Joe said, under the G&W Family banner. Last time I was in Meridian Ms and the few times prior to that, nothing remains in orig M&B paint. Lots of G&W Orng/Blk/Ylw with some Bay Line colors thrown in. But also some of the other members of the G&W Family can be seen here also. Ben |
