A H-12-44 for Switcher Saturday

Southern Pacific 1589 in Phoenix, AZ on June 24, 1962.  She was a Fairbanks Morse H-12-44, built Jan. 1951 and sold May 1975.  Orange baggage cart!

The baggage cart or float was still in use in the 1990s before Amtrak abandoned Phoennix. We had 5 useable carts at the time and for the last 5 years or so of service in Phoenix all 5 were required for most trains because of the heavy baggage and express on and off trains 1-21 and 2-22. 
I think several of the carts may still be in use at Tucson.
