Here's Looking at You - B&O 4023
Author: refarkas

Some views can't be repeated. It is April 1982 in Akron, Ohio, and westbound B&O 4023 is approaching the Wilbeth Road walkbridge over the tracks. The good-looking right-of-way to the left is the former EL mainline; soon all that will be left of it are memories. CSX still uses the double mainline tracks of the former B&O/Chessie System. The track to the right is a now-removed ex-PRR/PC/CR line. The recently-removed buildings to the right were once Lehr Iron and Steel in the 1940's and 1950's.

Interesting to see one of the Trailer Jets with one GP40.  From photos I've seen that seemed somewhat typical during that time frame.  Ten years later when I was heavy into train watching, and logging what I saw at Fostoria, Ohio,  the Jets typically ran with four GP40-2's and the trains were long.  Must have been steady growth over those ten years.  Thanks for sharing your photo as I always enjoy them.

Another nice one Bob! The paint that EMD used on those B&O and C&O blue merger scheme GP40's in that era really held up well.
