Need help in ID'ing a SP location on the West Valley line
Author: spdaylight

Still finishing my DVD '40 Years of Freights in the West' and am in the final stages of identifying locations.  Will be posting 2 or 3 requests for ID'ing specific locations.  This clip was shot in the late 70's somewhere around Orland or Williams(?).  Any help would be appreciated!

Artois at Rd 33. The buildings have been heavily modified but have the same very basic structure. Google Earth has a very siimilar perspective. except not train.
Pretty cool clip of an interesting section of the old SP. I do remember hanging out and watching those freights going past, then hopping back on I-5.
t4p.

That is the West Valley Line up there. The West Side Line was from Tracy to Fresno (now Tracy to Los Banos and Oxalis to Fresno).

Can't tell you how anxious I am to get my hands on the SP DVD!!!   If that is the real sound, it will be like being there all over again!   No video has been able to do that in a long long time.

Thought I'd post a photo of me back in 1979 shooting a SP freight upgrade from the Cantara Loop as it heads toward Mott - as you can see I have head phones on attached to the cassette recorder . . . the DVD doesn't only cover SP but D&RGW, BN, UP, and CP & CN in Canada also.
