In the 1980s, the MBTA Fs appeared in two paint schemes. One scheme, shown in this photo, had a broad purple band wrapped around the middle of the locomotive with yellow trim and the rest of the locomotive painted silver. The other scheme, which I felt was much more attractive, featured a silver band wrapped around the middle of the locomotive with yellow trim and the rest of the locomotive painted in an attractive shade of maroon.
