Nostalgia & History > A Hiawatha Service Train Returns in 1975Date: 08/24/16 13:25 A Hiawatha Service Train Returns in 1975 Author: MartyBernard If North Jefferson Street went through, that's about where I was standing when I took these two photos in Chicago's near northwest side. The Amtrak Hiawatha Service train with an Amtrak E-unit leading was just a few minutes from its bumper post in CUS. A C&NW commuter train was above it as it ducked under the C&NW Terminal leads. I remember a pleasant March 19, 1975 late afternoon.
Enjoy, Marty Bernard Date: 08/24/16 15:18 Re: A Hiawatha Service Train Returns in 1975 Author: UP951West Now those are my kind of passenger trains, Thanks for sharing, Marty.

My coach drove over a crossing and I looked down the track to see a bunch of Hiawatha cars pulled by a bloody nose E-unit! Those cars were solid!

The Executive House hotel is now a Wyndham property. I really miss that view from the Hiawtha trains. Here's probably my last open shot from the train in 2013. Merchandise Mart always looked sharp in the morning sun!
