Nostalgia & History > SDP40F engineers from LADate: 08/25/16 03:20 SDP40F engineers from LA Author: mp51w Dick Smith was good at getting up at cab level.
That was back when you could recognize the engineer, unlike todays GE P42's. Date: 08/25/16 03:28 Re: SDP40F engineers from LA Author: mp51w Look at this hogger in the white hair. Top of the seniority list no doubt!
It's entirlely possible that he started in the steam era. Any help with ID ShastaDaylight? One more of a long Coast Starlight with SDP40F 586. Date: 08/25/16 03:33 Re: SDP40F engineers from LA Author: mp51w It almost looks like a flat topped hat like a conductor or a red cap would have used.
The light engine move appears to have 2 guys on the firemans side. That's it for today's B&W 70's flashback! Date: 08/25/16 05:26 Re: SDP40F engineers from LA Author: wigwag First pic is at Fullerton Jct. Nice pics!

I had a lot of happy miles behind those units, and spent quite a bit of time on the head-end aboard them as well. However, these shots were before I went to LA with Amtrak and while a couple of the engineers look familiar, I don't have any names to go with the faces... Thanks again for sharing these shots!
