Roger Puta's Scenes from British Columbia, 1984, Part 1
Author: MartyBernard

Roger Puta was railfanning with cameras in November 1984 in the Fraser and Thompson Canyons of British Columbia.  He found mostly very overcast days which gives his photos a deep dark winter look.  I hope you find them interesting.

I want to thank the members over on the Canadian Railroads Discussion Group for assisting me with the locations of the photos.

7. CP 5842 at the east switch of Drynoch.  The car between the 2nd and 3rd locomotive is, as sarailfan explained, "a robot control car for the remotes further back in the train."

Enjoy Roger's photos,

Great content and thanks for posting Marty. Forgot how grafitti free the railcars here used to be. The solid sets of cylindrical hoppers too...very cool.

Thinking further about it, the robot car is likely being transferred back from Coquitlam to Calgary for another westward bulk train. Being an eastbound empty there probably aren't any remotes on this train, but westward loads ran 3x2 in this time frame I think.

EDIT: That CN 6353 shoud be the 5353, based on the locomotive type (an SD40-2W)
