Roaring Fork cars at Houston -- Oct 87
Author: gcm

These cars are on the Sunset Limited at Houston.
They were in town for the American Society of Travel Agents World Convention.

Silver Queen was a 1948 Budd built car (coach) for the M&StL.
It was sold to the Rock Island (#363 Herington).
It was used on the RI Peoria and Quad City Rockets in the 70's.

Silver Colt was built by Budd in 1948 for the California Zephyr.
It was used by the D&RG on the Rio Grande Zephyr.

I believe both cars were used on the Houston-Galveston Texas Limited in the early 90's.

Back in the heyday of Randy Parten's fleet. Where are these cars now?

Are these cars still around?  I sure hope so as it's a damn shame more of the conventional cars have not been kept up to Amtrak standards and running somewhere.

Silver Colt is now Grand Canyon Railway's "Desert View". Not sure about the other car.
