Beauty.  It was priceless back when there was a model of unit for a particular application of duty.

What a beast!  Was that supposed to be a yard or road engine?  Either way, I'll bet the crews hated the limited visibility.

What a great photo; thanks for this real treat!  Does anything beat the J ? Of course not.
And looks like a sharp switcher on the left too.

It was a road engine, in essence, Bill - but - the "T" stood for "Transfer", so, fully, "(D) Diesel (T) Transfer - (6) Axles - (6) Traction Motors - (2000) Horsepower."

The EJ&E Railway purchased 27 of the 46 total produced. Between 1956 and 1962, all but two of these locomotives (#100 and #118) underwent a significant rebuilding program.

Here is a link to an original Baldwin advertisement for the locomotive:  http://yardlimit.railfan.net/baldwin/dt66-2000/workhorse.jpg

That photo brings back lots of memories. I remember seeing them in and around my home town of Whiting, IN, when I was a kid.

I grew up in Whiting too and likely saw them many times...just wish my memory was better.
