Maroon Monday: F is for Forlorn!
Author: santafe199

A forlorn-looking F-unit nose sits amidst the usual maroon patrons of Rock Island’s roundhouse facility in Kansas City. It’s a really crummy day depicted in this slide taken by my friend, Jim Watson. But he followed the simple formula of keeping it in a Smith-Victor slide storage box for 43 years and it became priceless. Enjoy…

Hey, even a fine vintage wine started out as sour grape juice.

I love slice-of-life pix like these.

Nice Lance. A great Jim Watson photo. I have a photo of a RI ex UP F unit arriving at Blue Island still sporting the big snowplow on the pilot.

I spy a C&O unit and a SP unit in the background. Awesome picture as usual Lance!

Ah, the good old days in which all engine terminals had the ground saturated with spilled diesel fuel, foul wastewater and lubricating oils.
