Grand Canyon Trains 23 and 24 Diner/Lounge Cars

Can someone fill me on how how the lunch counter/diner and dorm lounge cars were handled?  I've read these services were only offered between Winslow and Chicago.

Depend greatly on time frame you are discussing.
In the 1950's it operated   all the way.

Later, they did cut at Winslow and  one meal, breakfast westbound, dinner east bound was at Barstow Harvey House.

In the last year or so, they used a LC Diner that had a dorm for the small crew and I belive the lounge was dropped, but I could wrong.

Then when schedule changed to an night departure from LA, the sleeper was placed on the San Francisco Chief, and it was coach only east of Winslow.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Did the diner/LC cars along with dorm/lounge make it to LA between 1960 and 1966 for servicing or was that all completed in Winslow?

They did not come through to LA during that period.

I've seen a Santa Fe brochure from 1966 that was printed to specifically address the Meal Stop at Barstow.  Does anybody have interior photos of the LCD or lounges used on 23/24?  Thanks
