Great photo.

What is the 41 (coupled to the 182) - it almost looks like a slug, and the cab shown is actually a locomotive on an adjacent track?

WM 41 is a chopped-nose GP9.

Always like to see a WM photo post.
On Sunday, July 8 1973, I spent the afternoon railfanning in Greensboro NC (then I lived nearby in Winston Salem). Visited the Dispatchers Office. Southern's entire Washington-Atlanta Mainline was dispatched from Greensboro. There were two CTC machines. One was Wasnington-Spencer; the other was Spencer-Atlanta. Also made some photos of two freight trains and the northbound Piedmont. All in all, a good afternoon.
