Silly question, but would that train be QNYLA?

No, it is train 991 (Richmond to Chicago) a hot eastbound with a lot of UPS traffic.  Train QNYLA (Q new York to Los Angeles) was a westbound.

Outstanding shot!  This was back in the days when the Laguna folks could care less about railfans taking pictures from the former US66 overpass.  Those were good times, for more reason than one.

Thanks for posting.

However the date of the picture has to be April 1993 or later since the 878 was not built before then.

Another supporting reason is that I left ATSF power distribution that month when all of the dispatching was brought to the Schaumburg IL headquarters. If I had put an 800 class on a 991 train, I would have been chewed out. Of course when it comes to power distribution you can never say "never".

A+, John! And it's good to see your classy photo-credit signature again here on TO. It's been quite a while...

Indeed, the date is a typo. March 1995.
