Louisville & Nashville Century 630 February 1980
Author: Alcors32

It did't happen often but every now and then through the luck of the draw an American Locomotive Company's Century C630 locomotive made it to Tampa Florida on a Tampa Electric Co. coal train from the coal fields of Eastern Kentucky. Unknown to me at the time the 1434 would only have 7 months of life left. Louisville & Nashville 1434 Alco C630 Built 12-1965 Ex. Atlantic Coast Line 2012 Ex. Seaboard Coast Line 2212 Ex. L&N 8008, renumbered to L&N 1434 during 5-1977. Locomotive retired on 9-03-1980 Tampa Florida February 1980 Gerhard H. Anderson Photo

L&N folks would say, just another junk SCL unit foisted on the chronically-underfunded L&N.
