Necro Fluggenphoamin the Pequops (greatest subject title ever?)
Author: BoilingMan

Moor, NV  (the highest point on the SP's Salt Lake Division at 6165ft) at the summit of the Pequop Range.
For years, helpers were turned here to return to Wells.  SP had an operator here well into the 60's.  I don't know when the wye was removed, but it was a an obvious remnant of steam operations in the Pequops and I'd always wanted a good photo of it.   This was a job for the "flying tripod".
Got it.

From that angle you certainly can see the old wye location. Thank you!

Ferroequinology at it's best! I know some people don't care for drones, but I think this is definitely a great way to use them. Keep flying, finding, and posting. Good Stuff!

My late father-in-law grew up on a ranch near Montello, Nev.  He used to tell me how he hitched rides on the steam helpers down to Wells and back.  Those must have been some times!

I had to use Google Earth to find a Y in Mingus Tx on the T&P and it was there.

I'm in Montello right now having breakfast at the Cowboy Bar & Cafe.
I overnighted at the Pilot Motel.
Not too bad.
Good heater.
Bugs, of course, but big enough to easily swat and small enough they didn't make much noise.

Moor station closed March, 1959 when CTC was placed in service. Wye pulled out after steam ended on Moor Hill

Hopefully not in the room with ya.
Reminds me of when I did some work in Port Comfort TX(someone had a real sense of humor naming that town) The entire parking lot and downwind side of the hotel was in full locust bloom. had to put a bath towel at the bottom of the door just to keep those things out of the room.

Very nice photo, and drone is probably just about over I-80. Interesting that Moor is highest point in the Pequops on SP, I'd have thought Pequop siding, further east, would be a higher elevation.
In John Signor's excellent book on the SP Salt Lake Division he mentions that often steam helpers working east out of Wells would drop off at Moor and simply back down to Wells instead of using the "Y".

Not quite THAT close-  I-80 was a 100yrs or more behind me, maybe more?   I chose a camera with a fairly wide lens (24mm equivalent) so I wouldn't have to step back too far from my intended subject.
