Roger Puta's SP Train Photos, 3002 3853 8533
Author: MartyBernard

Two of each of three trains.  Caption help please.

1.  and 2. SP 3002 in September 1981

3. and 4. SP 3853 and 3739 in October 1981.  Someone wrote  "Elkhorn Slough" on one of the slides.  Is that true?

5. and 6. SP 8533 in October 1981.

Thanks for helping,
Marty Bernard

I'd say that photos 3/4/5/6 are all at or slightly compass south (SP east) of the slough.  AA

Pictures 1 & 2 are on the Cal-P

Picture 3  Is the Elkhorne Slough, approaching the west spur into Moss Landing with a bunch of pickels on the head end.

Picture 4    Starting up the hill at Moss Landing towards the overpass.

No. 5    Elkhorne Slough just out of Wat. Jct. with a bunch of pickels. Could be the ECP

No. 6  Big guess here :):) but I would say MP 104.

There was always an on going "contest" to see who could toss an air hose with a red flag stuffed into one end, out into the mud at low tide. It would stand up with the glad hand down in the mud. Pretty funny when the tide was in to see a few red flags  sticking up out in the water. That was why it had the knick name of "Air Hose Slough".

The spot where the photographer was standing is at the end of Pinon Ave. in Pinole.  SP's Tennent Ave. grade crossing is around the corner in the distance.
