Cotton Belt caboose placed in Kansas park 26 years ago

A retired St. Louis Southwestern Railway (Cotton Belt), No. 34,  was moved into the fairgrounds park in Herington, Kan., 26 years ago today, Oct. 22,1990.

The SSW donated the caboose to the Herington Historical Society, which had it placed adjacent to a former Rock Island car that had been acquired a few years earlier. The baggage car is used as an annex to the Herington Historical Society Museum. The caboose is kept closed.
