Nostalgia & History > Long line of Santa Fe work cars - Houston area -- July 85Date: 10/26/16 11:57 Long line of Santa Fe work cars - Houston area -- July 85 Author: gcm This was the longest line of work cars I had ever seen.
This was at Mykawa yard between Houston and Alvin. It looked like it was ready to depart. Date: 10/26/16 11:58 Re: Long line of Santa Fe work cars - Houston area -- July 85 Author: gcm There were a number of heavyweight cars in the consist of which I was mainly interested in.
This was unusual to see so many work cars together like this. After this day I didn't see many heavyweight cars around the Santa Fe system like I used to. It seemed like Santa Fe had more of these cars than other railroads. They may have been gathered up for retirement ? I miss the old MOW trains with the hand me down passenger equipment. Somebody with a ATSF car register, could probably give the history on some of those cars. It's mated up with the Little Giant crane. Has a build date of 7/1924 just like the ones pictured.
