Nostalgia & History > Feb 28, 1992 a "new" railroad.Date: 10/26/16 17:30 Feb 28, 1992 a "new" railroad. Author: tomstp Five cars and 3 engines, 2 Santa Fe,one South Orient, lead 5 passenger cars and a gondola (with a running welding machine to furnish power to the car next to it), running from San Angelo Jct toward San Angelo marking the transfer of the Santa Fe line to South Orient. South Orient rarely operated west of San Angelo and in a few years threw in the towel. Now the line is run by Texas Pacifico railroad and sees many frac sand trains varying from 80 to 120 cars with power from FWWR, BNSF, and UP deep into west Texas.
