B&W/Color - PC 1694
Author: refarkas

PC 1694 heads south into Akron, Ohio in September or October 1977. She is passing Taber Coal Company at South Street. Taber was one of the last coal companies in Akron.
Here is another way to make a black and white image from a color slide. By setting my Epson 550 scanner for 1.) Film Type Positive and 2.) Image Type 16-bit Grayscale, the scanner converted the image to black and white. Which image do you prefer?

I like the color shot for sure.

I think I prefer the b&w, although the color shot shows the coal piles in the background better. Those are some lumps!

BOB:
Like both of your photos.
Have attached a color scan I have previously posted that I simply converted to black and white using Microsoft Photo Editor.

Thanks for posting the Clinchfield F-unit. Both versions look good.
I've changed color slides to black and white in various photo editors over the years. It is good to see there is another photo editor which can do this.

My vote goes to the colour image.  Which is not to say that I dislike the b&w one.

I like the black & white image. To me it speaks better to the time period. Grimey!! The color pic is too colorful (smile).   I immediately noticed the coal chute which also helped "date" the image.

Thanks for posting!

PC rust and crud shows up better in color, as would a red and white mating worm logo if there were one!  ;-)
