Nostalgia & History > CB&Q E5A 9914B at Somonauk, ILDate: 01/10/17 01:07 CB&Q E5A 9914B at Somonauk, IL Author: MartyBernard A purchased slide, no date or photographer given. 9914B was Silver Swift built in June 1941. Note, she still has her skirts above her trucks. If the second unit was 9914A, meet Silver Arrow. And look at those semaphores! And hanging below the signal bridge too! Somonauk is on the CB&Q's Aurora/Galesburg double track main. I never worked Somonauk, but did Leland and Sandwich which are the next west and next east agencies (stations).

requirement to have the headlamp on when the train was in motion. I believe the 9914A was in pool assignment for the "Zephyr Rocket" the RI and Q train between Minneapolis-St. Paul and St. Louis.
