At one time the Reading (Atlantic City RR) and the PRR (West Jersey & Seashore RR) paralleled one another a block apart through Ocean City. Also had the Shore Fast Line (trolley line - former Atlantic City and Shore) come in from the north on a long trestle over Great Egg Harbor Bay until the trestle burned. A lot of action in that area and South Jersey at one time. Some world speed records set in South Jersey in the early 1900s as well.
