Roger Puta lived duiring the 1980s one house from the corner of Church and Liberty Streets. From his deck you could watch the J Church cars go up and down through Doloras Park.  He took these pictures from or near his house.  All in San Francisco in July 1972.

Why does the J Church line run through Doloras Park from 18th to 20th Street and then zigzag through back and side yards to 22 St.?   Answer:  In order to have a near constant grade.  Church Street has steep places and is flat at intersections.  So the J Church gets off Church St. between 18th and 22nd.

Eat your hearts out, you "deplorables" and this could just as well be Winter--only it would be warmer in Winter! I lived right next to that park, but never met Roger--"Sad!".

The quality of life has changed there over the ensuing years, apparently not for the better.
