the steam generator on the short hood. This locomotive spent its last days working out of Winona, MN on the "Alco Line" to Rapid City, SD. This trackage became the ill-fated DM&E. Author: GBW309 Looks like the Central Wisconsin engine house west of Waukesha, WI The Chicago Madison and Northern broke a pinion gear on the 1689 So Gary moved it from Janesville to Waukesha while the CM&N was shut down (due to bankruptcy) They changed out the pinion without a drop pit at that facility.
