1964: 3 G's
Author: bandob

1964 was probably the year I first did what might be called "serious" railfanning. Armed with my trusty 35 mm, I'd explore Washington DC Union Station and take short trips to various places, out and back by train.

Here's 3 GG1's in the summer of 1964: two in Union Station, the third in Ivy City from the window of the steam train on the B&O.

Quite the combo in shot 3. ACL E6A/B set with Pennsy GG1's. How many other places than here would ya possibly even find something such as this except on a Model RR?  Great shot.  Ben

These are all great; the dulux, red and brunswick colors of the GG1's looks as sharp as I remember as a kid in 1964, I was expecting the GG's to be Tuscan based on what I knew about them at that tender age but I enjoy that memory as much as any I have riding trains. The ACL E's are an added bonus
Thanks.

Great photos. Number three with the E6A and GG1 is amazing.

Bravo. Pic 3 just screams "Ivy City".

All are nice but number three is special.
