a Katy moment at Muskogee - 1987

We're at the Martin Luther King Drive rail crossing in Muskogee OK on a rainy and miserable Oct. 23 1987.   A northbound Katy manifest arrives for a crew change, while a southbound UP manifest departs in a sign of things to come.  Miss Katy had only 10 months to live before being swallowed whole by the Great Yellow Borg.

The second photo easily makes the impression that there is a three railroad meet going on.   The MKT definitely had a lot of color during its last 10 years of life.

Thanks for sharing the photo.

Nice sequence! Like a few other friends in my 1980s era orbit I wish I had taken more opportunities to shoot the Katy while it was still the Katy.
