Nostalgia & History > UP Clover Creek Cyn and Miller SummitDate: 01/22/17 15:34 UP Clover Creek Cyn and Miller Summit Author: StStephen In John Signor's LA&SL book he talks about the alternatives to Clover Creek Canyon and Meadow Valley Wash after the 1911 floods. Miller Summit was a shorter alternate between Crestline and Caliente, using a few miles of the Pioche branch. His very brief discussion talks about a 1% version of the line, and his map notes 1% on the Crestline side of the summit. I've tried following this on topo maps: it appears that any climb on the west side of Miller Summit to Caliente would still be around 2%. Can anyone provide any insights (Copy19?) into the surveys or the route? With current traffic levels it would not be justified, but someday in the future??? Clover Creek seems like another major wash-out waiting to happen.
