Corporately, maybe not.  But the rank and file employees usually made up for it.

I have a photo of a similar or identical sign on the 16th Street station in Oakland that I took in 1973.  So I vote for Oakland.

Oh yes they were,we used too spend the night in the Roseville Ca yards..SP Police used to come by and chat with us..(Us being my dad and his friends)...And it was never a issue..

Yes SP was very friendly, crews were awesome!!!! Even there police werent bad never had a bad experience with them.

I always thought we were pretty friendly. Maybe some of the fans were not?

They were pretty nice to me. Brakeman always answered questions, they have me 2 cab rides, and never seemed to care if I wandered the yards.
