Found this dupe in my UP file: H20-44 #1365 ... UP diesel roster shows they had 11 of them. Any idea where this was taken?

New Info from Alan Miller:  @ Council Bluffs 2/11/62   by Dick Wallin   (2:17 PM MST 2/20/17)

Notes below from UtahRails.net:


     UP 1365 and 1366 were both used as Fairbanks-Morse demonstrator 2000, one on a western states tour and the other on an eastern states tour. F-M 2000 was   displayed at 1947 Atlantic City Railroad Fair; both units were delivered to UP in October 1947 as the first units in Fairbanks-Morse order number LD43, which included UP 1367-1370. 

UP 1360-1370 were delivered with D.S. (Diesel Switch) prefix on road number; removed during March 1953.

GUYS...didn't the FM's for a short spell work as helpers on Cajon Pass only to be bumped by EMD cow and Calves????

UP 1366 went to Southwest Portland Cement and became their 409. It currently preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum.

The FM's were replaced by steam helpers over Cajon in mid-1950.  In the Fall of 1951, the steam helpers were replaced by the EMDs.

Can anyone explain why the Southwest Railway Museum (ex-SWPC 408, exx UP 1367) was repainted UP colors but numbered 1366 when the real 1366 is at IRM?

SWPC got two UP H20-44's, #1366 and 1369, and the unit at the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo, CA is most likely the former 1369.  See this old thread for a more detailed discussion of the subject:

That's gotta hurt.  Hpw many other instances were there when a new diesel loco was replaced by steam?

More information from Chard Walker's book "Railroading Through Cajon Pass."  One problem with the FMs was that they were not equipped for MU.  Also, UP was not happy with their performance as while one was rated at 1500 tons from Victorville to Summit, experience showed that one engine could only dependably handle about 1320 tons.  See page 166 of his book for more.
