Now here's a question for ya' Don; since the SD&AE 105 didn't have a train and its brakes available to retard the speed on this fairly heavy descending grade back to Colton, how did the engineer keep from overheating the drivers and risk slipping a tire? Having never run a steam engine; was there a way to put steam into the cylinders to give some sort of 'back pressure'? You know, inquiring minds and such. Charlie Edited 1 time(s).
