Crossing the Fort Wayne Line - July 1972
Author: refarkas

It is a less-than-perfect July 1972 day in Alliance, Ohio, and PC 6501(GE U25C), 2923 (GE U33B) are heading north across the ex-PRR Fort Wayne Line after which they will head west on the ex-NYC Cleveland Line. The bridge with its signals will soon be replaced with a modern, less-photogenic bridge.

Thanks for sharing. Good Lord, what's the deal with the tilting target on top of the bridge?

If anyone has information on the tilting target, I'd like to know it also.

From the Penn Central Central Region employes timetable No.5 of December 15th 1972, instructions on the aspects of the target signal at Alliance protecting the crossing of the Pittsburgh-Chicago main line and the Mahoning Secondary (note the mispelling on the map).

Great shot at Alliance - back in the days when it was much more interesting.
