Some More SP in the 80's
Author: RonSD70

Here are a couple more shots of the SP in Southern California in the '80s. This first shot of an SP GP9 in the SPSF paint scheme was taken on the UP main between City of Industry and Bartolo. This was probably the Patata switcher.

Another GP9, this one with the full light package, leads the eastbound Riverside local out of the West Colton yard and is approaching the cross-overs at the Santa Fe.

This westbound at Colton has just gotten the signal to cross the Santa Fe and head toward the West Colton yard. The GE still has its light package, and the SP lettering on the nose is unique.

RonSD70, those are great shots. In the third one, is the second unit a SR SD45 ? Gerry

Looks to me to be a VMV SD45 lease unit that yes, was of SR origin. SP had a bunch of leasers back then.

Cheers,
Harry
