Back in '86 or '87, I noticed one of these on the Tintic Branch near Santaquin, UT. Although the rail weight was not exactly the same, I later saw in the EMP TT that the speed was reduced right at the same location. I have a slide of it & it's right at the site that was used in a scene from the movie "Footloose" with Kevin Bacon & John Lithgow.
By the way, aren't these devices also called "compromise joints"?

It is amazing that when ever I am in the Springs I try to have lunch at the restaurant in the Depot and over about a dozen meals have yet to see a train.

How are they doing on get the double track put in going north toward Palmer Lake? Wasn't there some big community opposition?

Those comp. bars are actually worth quite a bit on the used market. I know a regional RR roadmaster who is always looking for 90lb(GN)/115lb bars.
