In 1973 the SP would collect the lumber flat and bulkhead cars at Taylor Yard and then run what was called the MUG train up to Northern California and into Oregon using the Siskiyou line distributing the cars back to the lumber mills. This photo was taken at Monolith. Bruce Petty photo

Mug trains are what we should have been using to practice with at West Colton in the beginning. Unfortunitalely, that is not what we actually practiced with.
