Nostalgia & History > old Santa Fe ALCOsDate: 02/22/05 10:31 old Santa Fe ALCOs Author: xtra1188w A few days ago I posted an image of that (?) HH1000 or whatever it is that's been stuffed and mounted in Temple Texas, in the zebra stripes. I mentioned the one that I had seen in the mid seventies up in the panhandle of Texas, and Evan Werkema wanted to see a picture of it. I finally found the pictures of that loco andI'm posting them here, in all of its red, white, and blue glory.

This was another type of a classic, it was a '73 Ford Torino Ranchero. Rancheros are getting about as rare as old Alcos are.

This dates from 1986 and it's a shot of three switchers that were in the employ of a huge grain elevator at the Port of Galveston. One of these engines was a "critter". I don't know if these engines are down there today or not. I haven't been back to Galveston since I took these pictures.
