Actually, at this date in the photo, this first GP40X was still owned and being tested as a property of EMD, and not yet prepared for delivery to the UP. The traditional additional harbourmist grey roof, 3M Scotchlite red lettering and striping have yet to be applied. EMD also at this time back in 1977/78, IIRC, began applying the traditional UP red scotchlite lettering and striping on new deliveries to the UP. Prior to this time, new power deliveries were delivered from the manufacturer to the UP in yellow and gray with silver trucks, but NO lettering, no striping nor their canvas sunshades/misc. cab equipment. All that equipment was later applied by UP's shops upon acceptance.

A general rule of thumb...for TOrders make your pictures 800 to 850 pixels wide and near 100kb ( kilabytes)? Any item larger just consumes more time to 'open' for everyone else? The one you've just posted looks really good for starting out! ...Bruce. Date: 09/24/16 15:55 Re: UP9000 GP40X to JimB Author: Chooch Different looking trucks. What are they?
