Port Ogden and Northern question.

I still play the old MSTS and have the Port Ogden and Northern add-on. My question is about understanding what the requirements are for each scenario as I usually get a "failed to complete" message when I exit the program. However, not having any idea of what I'm supposed to do, I just do my own thing and drive trains. Are there requirements to complete (as in regular MSTS)?
