Craig Date: 04/18/14 10:54 Re: Finally - no graffiti! Author: PHall They look like they're just out of overhaul.
Very clean and no markings. Date: 04/18/14 18:54 Re: Finally - no graffiti! Author: inCHI Is that a line of tank cars of oil or ethanol in the same train? Quite a combo...

Years ago during my time on the 1600K yard in Williams Lake on BC Rail , one winter there was a NATO exercise being held at the military range at Riske Creek. Lots of "army stuff" moving in by truck and rail. During our yard assignment each evening we had to spot up various flat cars of mobile military equipment, of various size and national flag at the "ramps" for unloading. Oddly enough, most flat cars carrying Canadian mechanized equipment had to be wyed, in other words turned around for the mechanized equipment to be driven off in forward motion. Kudos to the Canadian Military, the tanks and personnel carriers seemed not to have a reverse gear, had to be driven off the flat cars in the "forward direction", no reverse, no retreat. The train was a 705, which is a unit train of crude empties going to Alberta from St Romuald near Quebec City. I expect the military stuff was shipped back from Afghanistan. I'm told it was destined for CFB Wainwright. Ray p.s. Those are various models of Leopard tanks. p.p.s To hoggerdoug - note that the stowed-for-transport position of the turret is facing the rear of the tank. Edited 2 time(s).
