Canadian Railroads > An Easter weekend, trains, a scanner and a camera.Date: 04/20/14 08:20 An Easter weekend, trains, a scanner and a camera. Author: Train611 Hello and a very Happy Easter weekend to all the TO'ers and families.
Travelling HWY 1 in BC allows for interesting photo opportunities and having the scanner on reduces the amount of wait times. Here are a couple (0f many) from the trip. CN and CP were very busy on this day with at least 15 - 20 trains heard, passed or photographed. 1. The crew on CP 8700 is just bringing a westbound potash train into Field BC. The Mountain Sub crew will get on here and be out of town (heading to Revelstoke) in 10 minutes. 2. CN 2338 West has a grain train in tow as it passes an eastbound empty potash train headed up by CN8881. The location is Savona BC. 3. CP8819 has a westbound coal train on the move a few miles east of Kamloops BC. Thanks for looking, 611 Date: 04/20/14 08:44 Re: An Easter weekend, trains, a scanner and a camera. Author: britchie Good stuff, I live in Chase and think that your last shot is a great place to shoot e/b's and w/b'. Thanks for posting.

1. CP9633 East lifts an empty potash train at Salmon Arm after waiting for a signal to proceed. 2. CN8861 east (on CP Tracks) passes through Spences Bridge BC. 3. CN10900 and 10800 get ready for a departure to Seton BC. Hope you enjoyed these. 611 Date: 04/20/14 13:52 Re: An Easter weekend, trains, a scanner and a camera.. Oh Canada ... one of these days I'll make the journey North! Thanks for the superb photography.
Odyssey Evergreen, CO Date: 04/21/14 00:58 Re: An Easter weekend, trains, a scanner and a camera.. Author: eminence_grise The Spences Bridge image shows that the steelhead run is happening on the Nicola River.
Note also the bridge abbutment and remnants of railway right of way beneath the current CP Thomspon Sub. Nicola River crossing. Much of the original CP 1885 grade was rebuilt into the early 1900's. The abandoned CP Kettle Valley line is visible on the west bank of the Nicola. Date: 04/21/14 06:43 Re: An Easter weekend, trains, a scanner and a camera.. Yes.....schedule here: http://www.lillooetbc.com/Visitors/Things-to-do/Kaoham-Shuttle.aspx Date: 04/21/14 18:26 Re: An Easter weekend, trains, a scanner and a camera.. Author: sarailfan That one unit wonder is likely a 150 (give or take 2 cars) car coal load, but it should have both a midtrain and tail end remote...I think they also get an additional head end unit between Golden and Geddis for the steeper grades over Rogers Pass and Notch Hill. Still a sight to see, a single unit, 75 cars, single unit, another 75 cars and the tail end unit!
