Algoma Easter Week-end Part 2
Author: moonliter

Saturday April 19,2014 I woke up to sunny skies. After breakfast it was back to Steelton Yard to see 631 and shot a few more photos.

Starting about 08:15 folks in pick-up trucks started to arrive. They parked next to the baggage car door and transfer all sorts of things to the car. AC 312 is an ex Santa Fe car (3658) built in 1953 by Budd. The stainless steel coach AC 5654 was also an ex Santa Fe car (2834)built by Budd in 1953.

The final car in the consist was the Generator car 78. This car started life in 1947 not as a car but as a diesel locomotive, ALCO PB-1 for the DRGW number 600B. The DGRW converted it first to a steam generator car the a power car 253.

I chased the train as far as Searchmont, hoping that it would stop there as it did all the times before when I rode the train. It just sailed through this time. The station is standing on its last legs and I'm sure that it will be gone by the end of this summer.
