Canadian Railroads > Refresh my memory please .....

Someone refresh my memory as to why I'm driving 1000 miles to Oklahoma & Arkansas next week to shoot KCS "Southern Belles" ? This is the 8th trip through Galt, Ontario in the last 9 days for KCSM 4655, today seen trailing on 243 rocketing up the hill to Orrs Lake.

This foreign power madness is a delight for some fans. But it spoils the fun of travelling to far away railroads to see their motive power. If I go to Alabama I don't want to see CN and CP units. I want to go to North Platte, not Montreal, to see Union Pacific power. In Roanoke two weeks ago I shot a CN ES44AC that has never been on CN rails since being delivered new by GE at Erie, PA. This is nuts.

Yeah Ken I hear ya, and I think one of the last bastions of almost exclusive home-road power has fallen. Unlike the influx of 2006-2007 that we saw on CN, I don't think it's going to go away this time. However, I kind've enjoy seeing one of ours now and then when I'm in a far off land. Wouldn't want to go nuts with it, but if I can grab a CP GE mixed into a BNSF/KCS consist on Rich Mountain next week I will not really be upset.

BTW, have those 4 CN GE's come home yet ? NS grabbed them right off delivery like you say and that is now 3-4 months ago anyway, maybe longer.

Just checked the last order of CN's ..... 2842 is on NS 275 in Georgia, 2843 on NS 17A in Mississippi, and 2863 is on UP MPBEW1 at Houston, TX. All others are on CN, mostly in the west or in the Chicago-Winnipeg corridor.

Gate's and Arthur Bryant's (spelling) were my favorite when I was there.

No Kansas City BBQ I'm afraid, heading straight southwest on I-44 for the Heavener Sub at Neosho and working south. But happily I know where to get a great steak in Mena, AR.
