Canadian Railroads > Freight on the Former BC RailDate: 07/10/14 19:05 Freight on the Former BC Rail Author: loleta Here's some recent freight train action between Squamish and Darcy, BC.
1. The daily southbound, train 570, skirts along Anderson Lake north of Darcy. 2. Changes to operations since I was last up this way a year or so ago: more limited use of track patrols (they seem only to be used from Garibaldi southward and Mount Currie northward), and DPUs on train 570. 3. A classic Squamish Sub. location: passing Gates Lake at Birken. Loleta Fernbridge Date: 07/10/14 19:11 Re: Freight on the Former BC Rail Author: loleta 4. 570 follows the Birkenhead River southward near Creekside.
5. Deep in Cheakamus Canyon crossing Culliton Creek. I'm glad this one turned out, because I don't want to have to go back to this perch! 6. After 570 arrived in Squamish, a new crew cut out the DPUs, combined them with the head-end power, and headed north with train 571, seen here passing Green Lake between Mons and Wedge. - L.F. Does anyone know many trains a day are on this segment, and how it compares to BC Rail times?
