Placard on front of Canadian Locos

I noticed that on CP and CN locomotives, there is a square or rectangular placard that displays a white cross in a green background. What is this symbol for? Thanks!

butt gasket = one of those liners that you can lay down on a toilet seat, should you so desire and the need arise;)

I think that emblem is an International symbol for First Aid, not just Canada.

I believe it signifies the location of a stretcher.

That's a different logo. The stretcher logo looks like a white ladder.

Right you are, and you'll sometimes also see a white circle with a red outline of a fire extinguisher.
