9650 West with the 8708 and a grain train (351 or 357) has a clear signal at Gap East. Waiting in the siding is a 402 (maybe 204).

I didn't wait to catch the tail end remote; had to head further east to catch ....

the 402 approaching Exshaw.

Short train - 4 units and an axle count of 140 at Detector 65.6

8948 - 5926 - 5012 - 8623

... and being a 402 (or 204) it had a set off to do in Exshaw.

Backing through the crossover between the main and what is known as the long lead.

The CTC signal is 570 Exshaw West. The crossover switch is manual (note the red square)

Shoving into track 2 for the set off.

Those are not bunkhouse buildings the train is going by that is shown in the photos; those are fiber optic cable sub-stations.

Actually there is a set of bunkhouses at that location beside the fibre optic buildings. I guess for those of us who rail fan or work(ed) the Laggan, it's a mere "figure of speech" for that location.
