Canadian Railroads > Another bizarre lashupDate: 09/15/14 14:44 Another bizarre lashup Author: kgmontreal In Montreal we don't see as many odd combinations of foreign motive power as the fans do west of Toronto. But today's CN 394 departed Montreal for Richmond, QC with an NS/CN/CP combo.

Date: 09/15/14 16:37 Re: Another bizarre lashup Author: kgmontreal Yes, 394 connects with the St Lawrence at Richmond. It also now brings cars destined to the CMQ for interchange at Sherbrooke.

Best regards, Rob L. Date: 09/16/14 03:33 Re: Another bizarre lashup Author: kgmontreal Yes, the wire clears double stacks. But I'd love to see it rerouted, removed and never to return.

Date: 09/19/14 18:54 Re: Another bizarre lashup Author: ACR_Ted A few swipes with the healing brush in Photoshop would take care of that wire. I do that with my photos for problems like that.
Ted Date: 09/20/14 04:35 Re: Another bizarre lashup Author: Ray_Murphy The wire is actually part of railroad infrastructure. The track here is built on what was originally a marshy riverbed, and CN always had mud pump problems just about where the front to the locomotive in Ken's picture is. So sometime in the 1990s, CN installed a sump to drain the area better, and this wire goes to the pump in it.
It ruined the telephoto shots of that sweeping curve forever. Ray |
