A Tale of Two Grain Trains
Author: tsokolan

This weekend was the annual Great Edmonton Train Show, or maybe it should be Greater Edmonton Train Show since the venue is in Sherwood Park, but whatever. Anyway, after attending the show on Saturday afternoon myself and CP9300 decided to take advantage of the sunny weather and go looking for some fall color on CN's Camrose Sub.
#1 We catch a northbound grain train (forgot the number) just north of Camrose with a classic 2500 series C44-9WL
#2 Same train, now coming up to the south switch at New Sarepta Alberta
#3 The crew of another grain train, southbound 810, kill time while waiting for a meet with the north bound

Southbound CN train 810, with a GP40-2W and an SD40-2W accelerate out of the siding at New Sarepta Alberta.

Thank you for the coverage of what looked to be a great day. Any photos from the Edmonton Train show?

As Trevor said, it was a great afternoon with some nice early fall colors. I don't have a whole lot to add but here are a few.

1. The northbound loaded G813 from Joffre-Edmonton is coming into New Sarepta to meet G810, empty grain from Edmonton-Camrose. Country and province are represented nicely with the head end.

2. The farmers are hard at work with the harvest destined for the next unit train.

3. This evening I went out to CN's crossing of the North Saskatchewan River at Bailey. M347(Gary Kirk, IN-Prince George, B.C.) sails over the river while Q114(Calgary Logistics Park-Toronto BIT) waits in the background for 347 before coming off the Camrose Sub and heading east on the Wainwright.

Thanks for looking,
A.J.
