Canadian Railroads > Freshly painted CP exGP35 at Kicking Horse PassDate: 09/25/14 01:07 Freshly painted CP exGP35 at Kicking Horse Pass Author: Marcus CP Control Cab 1126 recently returned to Coquitlam, B.C. from Montreal,
after refurbishment and repainting. It was previously mated with CP GP38-2 3026. CP 1126 was originally the first GP35 built for CP in 1964; first numbered 8202, soon renumbered 5002, and later converted to Control Cab 1126 in 1996. 1. A tiny unit sandwiched between two large GE locomotives heading uphill from Lake Louise to Divide. Fifty years ago, the tiny unit was top of the line. 2. Looks like a GP35 in CP’s current paint scheme. 3. Arriving at Field, B.C., for a crew change. Basically they removed the rad fans and hatch and welded a piece of sheet steel over the opening. The exhaust stack got a sheet metal "cap" as well. DB fan and hatch are/were unchanged, since I believe when first rebuilt the dynamics remainder operable. What kind of trains does it work on?

In photos where the back pilot is visible, extra cabling can be seen for power from the permanently-assigned GP38-2 mother unit.
